As a part of 'Swachhta Abhiyan', the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of School of Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) observed a Sawtchh Bharath Pakhwada – a cleanliness drive at Lalbagh Botanical Garden on 1 September 2017 to spread awareness about cleanliness, waste management and to protect the environment.
Meanwhile, a Bengaluru based NGO The Ugly Indian screened a TED talk on topic 'Why is India Filthy?' on 31 August 2017 in order to influence and motivate the students. The drive proved to be highly beneficial for the students as it was inspiring to the onlookers and people in general.
The cleaning drive was followed by a volunteering initiative 'Rally for Rivers' to create awareness about the depleting resources and to highlight the importance of rivers.
