Jain (Deemed-to-be University), Alumni Association of School of Science conducted an extension activity program on “Science Nurture” for 7th and 8th grade students of Pragati English medium school Adarsh Nagar Bangalore on the 26 October 2019. The goal of the alumni team was to popularize STEM subjects viz Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics and subsequently arouse curiosity in the little minds. The event had a great response from the students who benefitted from the various demonstrations by the alumni. The staff and principal of the school were very enthusiastic in making all kinds of arrangements thus making it fun. The concepts discussed were sensors and fire alarms, blood grouping techniques, making a simple crane using an electromagnet, magnetic levitation and applications, aerodynamics, physics behind the ‘vaccuum cleaner’ device, and geometric properties of circles. Prof. J. V. Ramana Raju led the team of alumni who used their knowledge and expertise to keep the students in rapt attention. At the end a quiz competition was conducted based on the themes discussed.
