School of Engineering and Technology, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) organized an Industrial Visit to 220/66 kV Substation in Kanakapura (T), one of the oldest and Asia’s first electrical distribution station conducted for the students of electrical and electronics engineering department on 14 November 2016.
The industrial visit was on substation and it’s functions of components like wave trap, lightning arrestor, breakers, isolators, CT, PT, step-down transformer and its auxiliary bus-bar arrangement. Students also visited the PLCC control room which is used for carrier communication and protection purpose.
The visit was very fruitful as 66 students was accompanied by 8 faculty members namely, Dr. N.krishna Murthy (Prof.), Dr. Suresh D (Prof), Mr. Madhu Palati (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Kuldeep S(Asst. Prof.), Mr. Raghu. N (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Nagendra.K (Asst. Prof.) and Miss. Trupti.V.N (Asst. Prof.), Mr. Vivek Sharma (Asst. Prof.).
Students discovered many technical aspects of substation and felt fortunate, as the visit gave them a complete idea on, how the process of Power Distribution takes place.
