The Summer School on Quantitative Techniques held at JAIN (deemed to-be university)

The Summer School on Quantitative Methods in Social Science Research was organised jointly by JAIN (deemed to-be university) and CSDS - Lokniti from 17 to 27 July 2018.

Around 25 young scholars working as Assistant Professor / Ph.D. Research Fellows from across 18 states had been selected to attend the Summer School. They were provided practical training in the use of quantitative techniques for social science research. The data from the Mood of the Nation Survey (MONS) was used for the purpose of Analysis. The sessions began with a discussion on framing a research question, sampling techniques prior to a detailed analysis of analysing quantitative data.

All participants were required to develop a research question on the basis of the MONS survey data and present their findings at the end of the Workshop. They are now being encouraged to develop the same as a full research paper for publication.

The Resource Persons at the Workshop were Dr. Irfan Nooruddin from Georgetown University, Dr. Siddharth Swaminathan from Azim Premji University, Dr. Sanjay Kumar from CSDS, Dr. Suhas Palshikar and Dr. Rajeshwari Deshpande from Savithribai Phule University, Pune, Dr. K K Kailash from University of Hyderabad, Dr. Sandeep Shastri from JAIN (deemed to-be university) and Dr. Jyoti Mishra and Ms Vibha Attri from CSDS-Lokniti.
