Vidwan R N Thyagarajan, Visiting Faculty, Department of Performing Arts, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has been conferred with Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. Vidwan Thyagarajan, who has a Master's in Mathematics, completed 60 years as a musician and has held more than 2,500 concerts. He is known for his rendition of rare raagas, a gift he inherited from his musical lineage. His roots can be traced to four generations of Veda and Naada practitioners from Rudrapatna village in Hassan district.
