Session on "Live Line Maintenance of Transmission and Switchyards"

Jain (Deemed-to-be University) ’s School of Electrical Engineering one of the top engineering college in Bangalore had organized a session on “Live Line Maintenance of Transmission and Switchyards” for the students and faculty of Electronics and Electrical Engineering Department on 27 September 2018.
The speaker of the session was Mr. S. Prakash, Assistant Director, Hot Line Training Centre, Under Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, Bangalore. The speaker explained how the hot line training takes place and the risks that are involved in the training program. The two main methods of hot line maintenance were explained through a visual display. Then the students were taken to the site where 11KV hotline training was under progress. Mr. S. Prakash emphasized on the two main methods for the maintenance of the hotlines. He gave a brief explanation on hot stick method and bare hand method.
The Lecture gave a complete idea on how the process of damage insulators replaced in transmission lines in a live mode and also the dangers involved in being an electrical engineer. The objective of this session was to understand the power of teamwork and the risks that electrical engineers take for the quality supply of electricity in demand.
