Dr. Renjith Raj joined as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, School of Humanities and Social Sciences JAIN (Deemed-To-Be University) on July 1st, 2024. He has done his Ph.D. from the Department of Economics and Finance, BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. He has published his Academic articles in high-impact factor journals that are Scopus indexed with Q1 rank. He has qualified for the UGC – NET for Assistant Professorship in Economics. Prior to joining Ph.D. Dr. Renjith was working as a faculty in Economics at different colleges in Kerala. His research interests broadly fall in the areas of Climate Change Vulnerability Analysis and Public Policy.

Dr. Sheetal Gai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing, Griffith University, Australia.
Her research focuses on occupational stress, employee mental health and wellbeing, employee engagement, and work–life balance, with particular emphasis on designing and implementing innovative wellbeing intervention programmes. She primarily adopts mixed-method research designs to provide holistic, evidence-based insights. Dr. Gai has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in leading academic outlets.
With more than 14 years of progressive experience in academia, research, and consulting across India, the USA, and Australia, Dr. Gai has advanced from mid-level academic and practitioner roles to senior leadership positions that drive research-informed change. Her work bridges the classroom, practice, and policy, covering student mentoring, curriculum development, global research collaborations, and strategic consulting in mental health, resilience, and workforce wellbeing.
She has led international projects on psychosocial safety and organisational change, partnered with government agencies and the healthcare sector, and contributed as a postdoctoral and adjunct research fellow to shaping policy and programme design. Dr. Jennifer Fernandes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bangalore. She earned her PhD in Economics from Bangalore University, Bangalore, and holds an M.A. in Economics, an M.Phil and an MBA. Dr Jennifer has been awarded the UGC Junior Research Fellowship and Senior Research Fellowship in Economics and has qualified for UGC NET in Economics and Management. Dr. Daw has contributed to two international research projects during her M.Phil and M.A. studies. The first examined Contested Youth Identities in Higher Education: A Comparison between Two Universities in India and South Africa, while the second focused on Urban Water Service Delivery and Governance: Study of Four Indian Cities. These experiences have provided her with extensive expertise in survey design and field research.
She earned her PhD in Sociology of Education from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, with a dissertation titled International Schooling and Reproduction of ‘Globally Aware’ Middle Classes in India: A Sociological Study. During her doctoral research, Dr. Daw conducted fieldwork in an international school in Delhi, gaining valuable insights into parental and student aspirations, school choice, and middle-class perceptions within the context of India’s international education system.

Dr. Tarannum has over eight years of experience in academics, research, and consultancy across diverse domains, including social, sports, community, peace, social cognition, health, counselling, positive psychology, and health psychology. She earned her PhD in Psychology in 2015 from Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur.
She has worked as a Research Associate on national-level projects funded by UGC and CGCoST and has contributed nearly 20 scientific publications in reputed Scopus-indexed and UGC CARE-listed journals. Dr. Tarannum has also presented her research at several national and international conferences.

Her M.Phil. thesis on Black American women’s autobiographies received high commendation, while her doctoral dissertation explored the emerging field of Food Studies.
With over 27 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Afzal has held diverse academic and administrative roles. During her tenure at both the VIT-AP and Vellore campuses, she contributed significantly to curriculum design and the establishment of teaching-learning standards.
Her research interests span Cultural Studies, World Literatures, Literary Theory, African American Literature, Indian Writing in English, English Language Teaching (ELT), Creative Writing, Poetry, Drama, and Fiction. She places particular emphasis on autobiographical narratives, especially those authored by women. At present, she is engaged in a research project examining the intersections of food and identity.

Dr. Susobhan Maiti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bangalore, India. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the IQAC Coordinator, ISO Coordinator, and Internship Lead within SHSS.
He completed his postgraduate studies in Economics with a specialisation in Econometrics at Vidyasagar University, India, and subsequently earned his PhD in Economics from the same institution. His research interests span applied econometrics, industrial growth, efficiency, productivity, gender, and development economics.
Dr. Maiti was awarded the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Doctoral Fellowship for 2017–2018 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), now the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He has also qualified for the UGC-NET examination.
With more than 40 publications, including research articles, books, and book chapters, his scholarly contributions have appeared in leading international and Scopus-indexed journals such as the Journal of Asian and African Studies, Thailand and the World Economy, Economic Affairs, and The Indian Economic Journal.

Dr. Somnaath Bhattacharjee is an Assistant Professor of English at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bangalore. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English at The English and Foreign Languages University, Shillong Campus (2008–2013).
With over six years of teaching experience in higher education, Dr. Bhattacharjee is a committed and dynamic educator with a strong research foundation in psychoanalytic literary criticism. He has contributed scholarly articles to reputed journals and remains actively engaged in research and publication. Dr. Surbhi Jain is an Assistant Professor of English at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). She earned her Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from IIS University, where her groundbreaking thesis on Partition Narratives garnered widespread acclaim. Before her doctoral studies, she completed her M.A. and B.A. in English at IIS University, demonstrating a commitment to excellence from the outset of her academic journey. She has a diploma in mass communication and video production from the same institution. Dr. Surbhi Jain has published numerous articles in esteemed journals and contributed chapters to influential books within the field. Dr. Prasanna Kolar is an Assistant Professor of Economics at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). He earned his M.Sc. and PhD in Agricultural Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. His doctoral research, titled “An Economic Analysis of Major Edible Oilseeds Production Across Leading States of India,” contributed significantly to understanding oilseed production economics in India.
He qualified for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) in Economics and the ICAR-ASRB National Eligibility Test (NET) in Agricultural Economics. Dr. Kolar has published over 23 research papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals, including 17 Scopus-indexed and 3 Web of Science-indexed publications. He has also presented his postgraduate and doctoral research at more than four national and international conferences, seminars, and webinars. He has participated in several specialised training programs and workshops on research methods and statistical data analysis by recognised professional bodies.
Following his PhD, Dr Kolar served as Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics at KL Deemed-to-be University, Vijayawada (2021 to 2023), where he taught courses such as Fundamentals of Economics, Agricultural Finance & Cooperation, and Agricultural Marketing, Trade & Prices to over 250 undergraduate students. Alongside teaching and research, he undertook several administrative responsibilities, including being in charge of IQAC, NAAC Criteria 6 & 7 coordinator, Faculty & Staff Affairs in charge, Computer Lab in charge, Cohort M19 coordinator, and student counsellor for 25 students.
For 18 months, he taught various economics courses to BA Economics, BA PSE, BA PCEHR, and MA Economics students at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University). In addition to his academic duties, he serves as the TD-PCL Coordinator for the School, Web Updates In-charge, ISO Committee Member, and Placement In-charge for MA Economics students. His teaching, research, and administrative expertise strongly contribute to academic excellence and institutional development.

Mr. Anirudh Ramesh holds an MSc in Clinical and Counselling Psychology and is currently pursuing a PhD, focusing on the development and validation of psychological assessment tools. His research primarily revolves around adolescence, with particular attention to the academic challenges and psychosocial issues faced by young individuals. He has mentored students in the preparation and presentation of papers at national conferences, fostering their professional growth and scholarly engagement. Dr. S. Madheswaran

Dr. S. Madheswaran is a distinguished Development Economist and Econometrician of India. He is the RBI Chair Professor and Professor at the Centre for Economic Studies and Policy, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore. Previously, he was Director at ISEC, one of the premier institutes under the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), and Vice-Chancellor of GRI.
Dr. Madheswaran has also served as an Adviser (equivalent to Secretary Rank) to the Planning, Programme Monitoring, and Statistics Department of the Government of Karnataka. He was pivotal in drafting the Karnataka Evaluation and Monitoring Policy (2010), which laid the foundation for establishing the Karnataka Evaluation Authority. As the first Chief Evaluation Officer and a founding member of the Authority, he was instrumental in shaping its independent evaluation functions. Additionally, he redesigned and coordinated the Economic Survey of Karnataka from 2010 to 2014, co-coordinated the 12th Five-Year Plan Approach Paper and the Human Development Report, and advised on strengthening the state’s statistical system. He also chaired the steering committee for developing the Youth Development Index and Youth Status Report for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, 2017. Recently, he was nominated as a member to restructure and revitalise the Population Research Centre by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Throughout his career, Dr. Madheswaran has provided extensive policy advice on new schemes, programmes, and cabinet notes for the Government of Karnataka. He has actively enhanced the state’s statistical system and capacity building across various departments under the KSSSP and 13th Finance Commission grants. His contributions are reflected in official government testimonials. He has served on numerous central and state government committees, completed multiple projects for the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, and contributed to state action planning for assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Dr. Madheswaran has also been a member of the State Planning and Policy Commission, Advisory Committees of ICSSR and MHRD (Southern Region), and the Executive Council of Karnataka.
As a prolific researcher, Dr. Madheswaran has published over 120 research papers in leading international and national journals covering Economics of Education, Labour Economics, Health Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Policy, and Applied Econometrics. He has authored five books with reputed international publishers, including Oxford University Press and Routledge. His research findings have influenced government agencies' mid-course policy adjustments. He serves on several national and international journal review committees and has been Chief Editor and Managing Editor of the Journal of Social and Economic Development (Springer). He is also an advisory committee member of the Indian Journal of Labour Economics (Springer). Renowned as an inspiring teacher, Dr. Madheswaran has taught Applied Econometrics to postgraduate and Ph.D. students for over thirty years. He has coordinated numerous training programmes in Applied Econometrics for Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service officers supported by MOSPI, Government of India. He has also contributed to capacity building for researchers in South Asian through international training programmes conducted by the ILO and SANDEE.
Dr. Madheswaran has been invited to lecture at numerous research institutes and universities in India and abroad. He has served as a resource person, chairperson, and discussant in multiple seminars, workshops, and conferences, demonstrating strong organisational skills through the successful conduct of national and international academic events. He currently serves as Vice President of the Indian Econometric Society and President of the Indian Society of Labour Economics.
His contributions have been recognised with the prestigious Kempe Gowda Award by the Government of Karnataka for excellence in policy making using economics and statistics. He was named an International Fellow by SANDEE in 2007 and is also a Fellow of IZA – International Labour Studies Institute, University of Bonn, Germany. Dr. Madheswaran has been a visiting scholar at Princeton University, USA, and a visiting professor at the International Research Institute of Sociology and Economics of Education (IREDU), University of Bourgogne, Dijon, France. He has participated in academic activities in over 25 countries, including teaching, presenting research, and collaborative projects.

Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai, Director of Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, and Director of MATS Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore.
Furthermore, Dr. Mishra is actively involved in various professional bodies related to academia, contributing to policy advocacy. He has been on the Executive Board of the Association of Indian Management Schools(AIMS) since 2016 and served as the Regional Vice President—Southern Region for the year 2018 – 19. He has also served as the National Secretary of the Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR) for 2021-22.
Dr. Mishra was nominated by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission(UGC) as an Expert in the UGC Committee for drafting the subject-specific template for the Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) for the Undergraduate Level Programme in Management. He was also a Member of the AIMS Committee to coordinate with AICTE to implement NEP in PGDM Institutions.
