Darshan’s research interest in focuses on addressing global water scarcity by developing next-generation desalination technologies utilizing Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). Traditional water purification systems face strict trade-offs between permeability and selectivity, alongside high energy demands and membrane fouling. To overcome these limitations, his work leverages the ultra-high porosity, tunable pore sizes, and customizable surface chemistries of MOFs to engineer highly efficient molecular sieves. By tailoring sub-nanometer channels, this research aims to facilitate ultra-fast water transport while completely rejecting hydrated salt ions.
Darshan DS joined CRFM in July 2026 as Project Assistant. He has completed his M.Sc. in organic chemistry from University of Mysore ,India.
