Research Interest

Dr. N. Dhanalakshmi's research is centered on the innovative design and development of advanced electrochemical sensors for critical analytical applications. Her work leverages the unique properties of nanomaterial composites, such as rare-earth metal-doped ZnO and carbon nanomaterials, to create highly sensitive and selective platforms for the detection of pharmaceutical drugs and biomolecules.

She is currently expanding her research into the realm of eco-conscious sensors, specifically developing paper-based electrochemical platforms with MXene materials for heavy metal ion detection.

Biography

Dr. N. Dhanalakshmi is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Research in Functional Materials at Jain University, Bangalore, a position she has held since September 2025. She earned her PhD in Chemistry from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, in 2022, where she specialized in the design and fabrication of rare-earth metal doped ZnO/carbon nanomaterial nanocomposites for the sensitive detection of pharmaceutical drugs and biomolecules. Her foundational studies were also completed in Karaikudi, with a Master of Science (2015) and a Bachelor of Science (2013) in Chemistry from Alagappa Government Arts College. Her previous research experience includes roles as a DST-SERB Project Assistant in the Department of Bioelectronics & Biosensors at Alagappa University and an internship at CSIR-CECRI.

When not in the lab, she enjoys connecting with family and friends and starting her day with a morning walk.
