Course Overview

Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Product Design program, emphasizing the fusion of creativity and technical skills, the focus on user-centric design, materials, manufacturing processes, and the program's goal of preparing graduates to influence the design of consumer and industrial products with an eye on aesthetics, functionality, and environmental impact.

Date : August 2024

  1. Candidates passed 10+2 / NIOS board with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Arts, Science, Commerce or any other relevant stream and should have studied English as a mandatory course
    Candidates passed 3 year Diploma with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and should have studied English as a mandatory course.
  2. Candidates must have secured a rank in UCEED conducted by IDC of IIT- Bombay
    Possess a valid score in JET EXAM conducted by JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).
Selection Procedure

Applicant has to appear and clear the JET Exam, that includes

  1. Portfolio Review
  2. Personal Interview

Note : Candidates have to secure valid ranks in UCEED (for B. Des program) can directly attend the Portfolio review and Personal interview conduct by The School of Design, Media and Creative Arts. If not, they have to undertake the JET Exam conduct by The School of Design, Media and Creative Arts followed with Portfolio review and Personal interview to get qualify for the Design program.

Curriculum Structure

Candidates admitted into the B.Des. programs undergo a common Foundation Year of two semesters. Students undergo a rigorous and significantly hands-on year of immersion into developing their design sensitivities. At the JAIN School of Design Media and Creative Arts, we understand that, should the student's self-discovery of aptitude within the foundation year be different from the choice made during admission process, it is important for them to be given the opportunity to pursue their calling. Based on mutual availability of seats, requests for such change and relative merit, students could pursue a design stream they deem best. As career progression path or prospects, an Industrial Designer can reach up to the level of General Manager (Design), Chief Designer or even Senior Vice President (Design)
