SAHS Graduation Ceremony Marks the Beginning of 487 New Healthcare and Psychology Careers

Bengaluru, 7th May 2026: The School of Allied Healthcare and Sciences (SAHS) at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) witnessed an emotional and defining milestone on 7 May as 487 undergraduate and postgraduate students officially graduated across Allied Healthcare and Psychology programmes. Held in two sessions, the Graduation Day ceremony brought together students, faculty members, parents, and distinguished guests to honour years of academic dedication and personal growth.

The morning ceremony recognised graduates from Allied Healthcare disciplines including Nutrition and Dietetics, Molecular Medicine, Clinical Diagnosis and Assistance, and Medical Imaging. The afternoon session focused on Psychology programmes, including Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, Psychology Honours, and Bachelor’s programmes. Graduates from the undergraduate batches of 2022 and 2023, alongside postgraduate students from the 2024 cohort, marked the culmination of their academic journeys.

The ceremonies were graced by distinguished dignitaries Sri Ravindra Bhandary, Vice President, JAIN Group and Dr. Shraddha Kanwar, Chief Academic Officer, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) alongside SAHS Director Dr. Srividya Shivakumar, Head of Department Dr. Kiran Kumar Gudagudi, and programme Area Heads. Their addresses reflected on the evolving healthcare and mental health landscape, encouraging students to approach their professions with confidence, empathy, and responsibility.

One of the most memorable moments of the day came through the valedictorian speeches delivered by representatives from each programme. Students reflected on classroom experiences, clinical training, friendships, challenges, and the resilience that shaped their academic years. The speeches added a deeply personal dimension to the ceremony, resonating strongly with fellow graduates and families in attendance.

The event also recognised achievements beyond academics. Students excelling in co-curricular activities, leadership initiatives, and campus engagement received Achievers Awards, highlighting the university’s emphasis on holistic development alongside professional education.

As graduates stepped forward to receive their mementos, the atmosphere reflected both pride and possibility. The ceremony underscored the growing importance of skilled healthcare and psychology professionals and reaffirmed SAHS’s commitment to preparing students for meaningful contributions to society, research, and clinical practice.

Bridging Academia and Child Welfare: University and DCPU Bengaluru Urban Formalise Long-Term Collaboration

Bengaluru, 29th April 2026: A structured collaboration aimed at strengthening child welfare through education, psychology, and economic awareness was formalised on 29 April 2026 at the JAIN Knowledge Campus, Bengaluru, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Bengaluru Urban (Central).

The partnership brings together the Department of Psychology, Department of Languages, and Department of Economics in a coordinated effort to support children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs). Rather than operating in isolation, the initiative is designed to integrate psychosocial care, communication development, and financial literacy into a unified developmental framework.

At the signing ceremony, representatives from DCPU and university faculty members highlighted the need for a multidimensional approach to child development. While psychological support addresses emotional well-being and resilience, language-based interventions focus on communication skills and cognitive expression. Complementing these, economics introduces practical life competencies such as budgeting, saving habits, and financial decision-making—skills considered essential for long-term independence.

Ms Leena Kallammanavar, District Child Protection Officer, represented DCPU at the event, which also saw participation from faculty members across disciplines and university stakeholders engaged in social sciences and child welfare-related work. Around 25–30 participants were present for the formal proceedings.
The MoU establishes a framework for collaborative activities including psychosocial counselling sessions, language enrichment programmes, financial literacy workshops, and structured life skills training. These interventions are intended to be delivered through both faculty engagement and student participation, creating a learning ecosystem that benefits children while offering students meaningful experiential exposure.

A key dimension of the agreement is the opportunity it creates for student internships, fieldwork, and applied research. Students from psychology, languages, and economics will be able to engage directly with community-based contexts, translating classroom learning into practice while developing professional and empathetic competencies.

The collaboration is positioned as a long-term initiative, extending over two years, with a focus on sustained engagement rather than short-term intervention. It reflects a growing emphasis within higher education on socially responsive learning models that connect academic knowledge with real-world impact.

The MoU stands as a coordinated effort to address the layered needs of children in CCIs through interdisciplinary support systems. By linking mental health, communication development, and economic awareness, the initiative underscores the role of higher education institutions in contributing to inclusive social development and child well-being.

Inside the Athlete’s Mind: The Mind League 3.0 Explores the Psychology of Performance

Bengaluru, 28th April 2026: Athletes, psychologists, coaches, parents, and students gathered at the Conference Hall of the School of Sciences campus, on 28 April 2026 for The Mind League 3.0, a national-level workshop organised by the Department of Psychology. Centred on the theme “Shaping the Next Generation of Athletes Through Resilience and Mindset”, the event examined how mental strength, emotional balance, and support systems influence sporting performance both on and off the field.

Rather than limiting discussions to technical athletic training, the workshop brought together voices from sports psychology, medicine, coaching, education, and lived sporting experience. Across expert talks and panel discussions, participants explored how resilience is built—not only through victories, but also through injury, failure, pressure, and recovery.

The opening session featured insights from Mathews P. Raj, researcher and education management professional, alongside sports psychologists Dr Niveditha Rajan and Ms Priyanka Prabhakar. Through reflective exercises, real-game analysis, and interactive discussions, the speakers unpacked different forms of sporting pressure and examined how athletes can use self-talk, mindfulness, and self-compassion to manage high-performance environments. The session emphasised that athletic success depends as much on mental conditioning as physical preparation.

The second session shifted focus towards team dynamics and injury rehabilitation through a panel discussion moderated by Col Aju Mangaly. Dr Bharath Kumar B, former team doctor for the Indian Women’s Boxing Team, former international basketball captain Mrs Jayavathi Shyam, and parent representative Mrs Neha Bhat reflected on the often-overlooked emotional dimensions of sport. Discussions ranged from leadership and team cohesion to parental involvement, burnout, and the growing concern of doping in competitive athletics.

The concluding session brought together sports psychologist Dr Chaitanya Sridhar, international athlete-turned-coach Mohit Kamat, and karate champion Amal Sooraj for an honest conversation about setbacks, identity, and recovery. Drawing from personal experiences of defeat, pressure, and rebuilding confidence, the speakers highlighted practices such as breathwork, visualisation, and emotional support as critical tools for resilience.

By the end of the workshop, participants were left with a broader understanding of sport not merely as competition, but as a deeply psychological journey shaped by mindset, relationships, and the ability to recover from adversity.
