It has been felt a necessity to make higher education more relevant for an emerging economic and social needs of India, by providing University / College graduates with adequate knowledge and skills for employment and entrepreneurship. So, the Ministry of HRD, Government of India formulated National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF) in Sept. 2011.
In pursuance, the University Grants Commission (UGC) launched skill-based education, leading to the Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree, with multiple exits such as Diploma / Advanced Diploma under the NSQF (Level 5-7). The NSQF provides flexibility for the students to further move to master’s and research degree programs (via NSQF Level 8 – 10). The B.Voc. program is a credit-based curriculum with specific job roles along with general education subjects (to remain holistic as a formal degree). This skill-based education framework will enable the graduates to get integrated to both domestic and global economy. To incorporate the requirements of various industries and be relevant to the requirement of the local workforce, the B.Voc. curriculum is developed in consultation with the industry and the respective sector skill council(s).
Jain (Deemed-to-be University) provides B.Voc. across various industry sectors such as Media & Entertainment, Travel &Tourism, IT / ITeS and more. The students after completing these bachelor programs can explore opportunities to work in various domestic and multi-national companies.
