Overview

The MSc Biochemistry is a two-year, research-focused postgraduate programme designed to develop advanced conceptual understanding, experimental competence and scientific rigour in modern biochemistry and allied life-science domains. Aligned with NEP 2020, UGC CCFPP Guidelines 2022, NCrF 2023 and NHEQF 2022, the programme offers specialisations in Molecular Biology and Clinical Diagnosis, preparing students for research, clinical and industry-oriented roles.

The curriculum integrates strong theoretical foundations with intensive laboratory and research training across enzyme technology, molecular biology, immunology, metabolism, endocrinology, toxicology, clinical biochemistry, recombinant technology and drug discovery. A distinctive feature is Transdisciplinary Project-Centric Learning (TD-PCL), implemented across all semesters, along with dissertation-based research, in-house projects and internships. The programme emphasises ethical research practice, regulatory awareness, data analysis, and the application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning in drug development.

Through laboratory-intensive learning, interdisciplinary exposure and industry-linked training, students gain practical competence and professional skills relevant to doctoral studies, diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, clinical research organisations, regulatory sectors and academic careers. The structure ensures graduates are prepared for both fundamental research and translational applications in healthcare and life sciences.
