Eligibility

The qualification required to apply for the MA program is a minimum of 50% marks in the respective Bachelor’s degree from UGC Recognized Universities/Colleges.

Overview

The post-graduate curriculum of MA in Jainology and Comparative Religion & Philosophy focuses on providing exposure to Jainology and Comparative Religion & Philosophy, which has been introduced to understand the value-based unique and eternal principles of Jainism and their relevance in the modern era. It also aims to provide a comparative study of Jain philosophy with other Indian and Western philosophies. The department aims to nurture all aspects of one’s personality and enable them to live a holistic life and also endeavor for higher spiritual growth. This Programme enhances the intellectual development of the student based on the value-based education of Jain philosophy. The program helps students to achieve human excellence.

About Jain Philosophy –
Jainism is one of the oldest philosophies in the world and an ancient system of beliefs that is compatible with modern science. It is the philosophy of whole life, who believes in Ahimsa in conduct, Anekanta in thoughts, Syadvada in speech, and Aparigraha in society, which are the four great pillars of Jain philosophy, on which the palace of Jainism stands. Jain principles and practices have been relevant in all periods. This aims to propagate the prosperous tradition, history, and archaeology of Jainism as well as universal principles of Jainism and their relevance in the modern era.

Three Months Certificate Course in Jain Religion and Philosophy : This certificate Course is open for everyone, which any inquisitive people can take part in, who are curious about Jain philosophy and eager to study it. The key features of this course are Introduction to Jainism, Canonical Texts, Jain Ethics, Culture, Jain Metaphysics, Principles, Epistemology, Logic, Spiritual Practices etc. This certificate course is divided into two parts

Preliminary Level - Three Months
Advance Level - Three Months
Course Commencement : 15th July 2024

Six Months Certificate Course in Complete Life Management : This curriculum of "Complete Life Management" is designed wherein all aspects of personality enhancement like physical, intellectual, emotional, mental and spiritual are covered exhaustively in teaching and training as well as in research and practical applications. The key features of this course are Management & Jainology, Personality Management (Pre and Advanced), Life Resource Management, Goal Management etc, along with Internship. This certificate course is divided into two parts

Preliminary Level - Six Months
Advance Level - Six Months

Career Outcomes

Understanding Jainism is like understanding the true philosophy for self-upliftment. It is like a value-based education by which students will be able to understand the ethical, cultural, scientific, and environmental dimensions of Jain philosophy, which will lead to their personality development. It empowers them to broaden their perspective and deal with social realities and problems and helps them find an ideal solution through the universal principles of Jain philosophy.

After doing an M.A. in Jainology and Comparative Religion & Philosophy, Students can do a Ph.D. by clearing the National Eligibility Test (N.E.T.) exam with Jaina, Buddhist, Gandhian, and Peace Studies (Code 60) subject, conducted by University Grants Commission (U.G.C.), New Delhi. By getting the highest marks in N.E.T. Exam, students can also get Junior Research Fellowship (J.R.F.), which gets updated further to Senior Research Fellowship (S.R.F.) for Ph.D. from U.G.C. There are opportunities for teaching jobs in the departments and chairs of Jain Philosophy/Philosophy in Central Government Universities, State Government Universities, Deemed Universities, and Institutes in India. Several endowed chairs have also been established in foreign countries for Jain philosophy/religious studies/theology, in which scholars of Jain philosophy are needed.
