Learning and Teaching

JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), on being conferred the status of a deemed to be University, has capitalized on the opportunity to bring in innovation in the syllabus and course structure which was otherwise not possible as an affiliate college.

The courses are designed to cater to student diversity and their ability to cope with the programs. In order to provide quality education, conventional teaching methodologies are complemented with use of ICT and digital technology. Several innovative pedagogies such as adaptive learning, case studies, interactive tutorials, and cognitive and affective learning are used for teaching. To compliment what is offered as part of formal courses, a range of value added programs is made available to learners.

The University has a rigorous life skills program for all learners. For UG students registered under JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), there is a compulsory paper on Mind Management and Human Values in either the first or second semester. The program allows the holistic development of the learner during his/her time at the institution.

A conscious effort at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) is to adopt a learner centered approach. Faculties have been extensively trained in the learner centric approach and conscious efforts have been made to implement the same in the classes.

The goal of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) is to make every classroom a space for learning rather than a zone for teaching. Classroom activities provide several opportunities for diverse skills to find legitimate expression. Group discussions, case studies, role plays, simulations, and seminars are regular features of classroom activities. Modern technology is also put to effective use with the faculty being adept at using the LCD in regular classrooms. Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) techniques including video recorded lectures being made available to students is part of the support system available at the University.

Innovation in teaching/learning methods is a continuous endeavor. Best practices are shared among colleagues and at inter-departmental seminars at campuses. The University encourages its faculty members to upgrade their skills regularly. Faculty development programs are conducted every academic session and staff members are encouraged to organize and attend seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Strategic Vision

The University updates its strategic plan that covers both long-term and short-term planning to ensure that it progresses on its well laid out multipronged vision of quality in academic programs, research, extension activities, sports, and entrepreneurship activities. It has prepared Vision building on the strategic plans comprising the following six verticals:

With the belief that education enables people to respond to opportunities, Dr. Chenraj Roychand’s education module together with entrepreneurship and ecological development has led to the creation of social entrepreneurs and job ready professionals in the peri-urban areas thereby building a self-sustainable ecosystem pan India.

As with JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)’s approach, the plan for comprises:

To establish an exclusive Centre for Skill Development
To introduce additional Faculties in the domains of Education and Architecture
To upgrade the existing research centers to centers of excellence
To conduct accelerator program for Young Scientists / Technologists enabling them to commercialize their start-up ideas
To complete the process of introducing paperless administration
To start off campuses and off shore campuses
To promote start up India initiatives through the TBI
To enhance the activities of the Human Networking Academy
To establish a center for flight safety in aerospace engineering
To develop an International Research Center for Public Policy which will be linked with leading international universities working in the domain of Public Policy and international organizations focused on public policy research and advocacy
To increase the number of and provide better access to learning resources
To increase the number of and introduce more diverse and interdisciplinary academic programs in innovative / emerging areas
To nurture and develop sporting talents in the University to acquire more medals including gold at the international level
To undertake more cutting edge in emerging areas of Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences having an impact on society and contributing richly to national development

Sustainability

For society to move forward, we as a community need to pursue common goals relating to education, environmental protection, and social justice. And that is why we encourage individuals to do their bit whether it is planting saplings, donating blood, distributing food items, providing free education, and helping the less privileged and marginalized communities in other ways.

The outreach or extension activities relate to various societal issues and nation building activities. Contributions from NCC, NSS, Human Networking Academy, Rotaract wings, and Radio Active CR 90.4 MHz of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) have been immense. The community-oriented activities help students develop qualities of selflessness, discipline, dedication, and desire for hard work.

Education and research are considered the cornerstone for development. We not only believe in instilling values that will, no doubt, give the present and the next generation stability and focus, we also believe in imparting knowledge through our courses. Be it engineering, interior design or nano material and sciences, we stress on sustainability.

Keeping in mind the current issues that we face be it global warming, unemployment, infrastructure and so on and what is required for a better tomorrow from an organizational, entrepreneurial, and social and environmental perspective, we’re unwavering in our contribution to sustainability.
