Anti-Ragging Policy

we are committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for our community members. At JAIN, we strictly prohibit any act that causes or is likely to cause undue stress, harm, or humiliation to another student, particularly freshmen or junior students. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Disorderly Conduct: Any verbal or written conduct, or physical act, that results in teasing, ill-treatment, or rude behaviour towards another student.
  • Disruptive Activities: Engagement in aggressive, unlawful, or disruptive behaviours that cause, or are likely to cause, annoyance, hardship, psychological or physical harm, or induce fear or apprehension in a junior student.
  • Forced Compliance: Requiring a student to perform any act that causes or generates a sense of shame, embarrassment, or adversely affects their physical or psychological well-being.
  • Acts of Violence or Coercion: This includes, but is not limited to, teasing, embarrassing, humiliating, assaulting, using criminal force or intimidation, wrongful restraint, confinement, causing grievous hurt, kidnapping, extortion, molestation, committing unnatural offences, or any act leading to death or abetting suicide.
Disclaimer

Ragging is strictly prohibited within all university premises and associated environments:

  • University Campus: Ragging is forbidden within all university institutions, departments, and residential hostels.
  • Off-Campus Residences: Any form of ragging occurring in private accommodations where university students reside is also strictly prohibited.
  • Individual Responsibility: No individual, including students, staff, or faculty, shall participate in, abet, or promote ragging in any form.
Punitive Actions by the Administration

Ragging is recognised as a cognisable offence under relevant laws, and punitive actions will be exemplary and serve as a deterrent. Such actions may include:

  • Academic Disciplinary Measures: Cancellation of admission, suspension, rustication, or permanent expulsion from the university and/or its residential facilities.
  • Institutional Debarment: Expulsion from the institution, leading to a prohibition from seeking admission to any other educational institution for a specified period.
Conduct Policy

Discipline : Misuse or damage to university property or facilities will result in disciplinary action. Such actions may include, but are not limited to, termination of a student's enrollment and/or financial liability for repairs, replacement costs, and associated call-out charges. A breach of discipline is defined as any failure to comply with university statutes, ordinances, regulations, or prescribed rules of conduct.

Security : Students are solely responsible for the security of their personal property. The university explicitly disclaims any responsibility for lost or stolen items. Any lost or found articles should be reported promptly to the Facilities Management Desk.

Attendance Requirement : Adherence to attendance requirements is mandatory for all students to be eligible for semester-end examinations.

Undergraduate Programmes (Excluding Engineering)
  • Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each registered subject to be eligible to appear for the semester-end examinations.
  • Failure to meet this minimum attendance requirement will render a student ineligible to sit for the end-of-semester examination.
  • In prolonged absence from all classes without prior official permission, a student's name will be subject to removal from the University's official rolls.
Undergraduate Programmes (Engineering)
  • Students are required to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance in each registered subject.
  • At their discretion, the Dean/Director may grant condonation for up to 10% of the attendance requirement, provided the student has a minimum of 75% attendance in that specific semester.
  • Failure to meet the attendance requirements (including condonation provisions) will result in ineligibility to sit for the end-of-semester examination.
  • Should students be absent from all classes without prior official permission, their names will be removed from the University's official rolls.
Consequences of Non-Compliance:

Students who fail to comply with the stipulated attendance requirements will be required to seek re-admission to the same semester and pay the associated fees. Strict adherence to these regulations is enforced.
