The Honours track is a 4-year programme emphasising disciplinary knowledge and applied skills. The Honours with Research track is a 4-year programme that includes a dissertation and advanced research training.

Yes, students can select a Minor from Sociology, Human Resources, or Economics based on their academic interests and career goals.

Students are encouraged to engage in a variety of research and experiential learning opportunities throughout the programme. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, they undertake independent projects, field studies, and internships that bridge theory and practice.

Research training begins early through exposure to qualitative and quantitative methods, psychometric assessment, and data analysis using digital tools such as SPSS, Jamovi, or R. As students progress, they design and implement empirical studies and community-based interventions, often collaborating with NGOs, schools, and organisations.

Emerging research areas include:
?    Mental health across sectors – examining wellbeing and resilience in education, healthcare, corporate, and community contexts.
?    AI and human behaviour – studying how technology, social media, and artificial intelligence influence cognition, emotion, and decision-making.
?    Workplace and organisational psychology – exploring motivation, leadership, employee relations, and work-life balance.
?    Social and cultural psychology – investigating identity, group dynamics, and cultural determinants of behaviour.

In the Honours with Research track, students complete a dissertation that involves formulating research questions, conducting systematic inquiry, and presenting findings through academic writing or conference presentations — preparing them for postgraduate research and professional practice.

In addition to core psychological skills such as observation, assessment, and understanding of human behaviour, students develop a broad range of professional and research competencies. These include critical thinking, data interpretation, counselling, research design, teamwork, communication, and ethical reasoning skills relevant to diverse academic, organisational, and social domains.

Graduates of the BA (Honours / Honours with Research) in Psychology are well-prepared to pursue postgraduate studies, professional training, and research opportunities in India and abroad. The programme provides a strong disciplinary foundation along with interdisciplinary exposure through minors in Sociology, Human Resources, or Economics — allowing students to shape diverse career pathways.

Students can continue their academic journey through postgraduate programmes such as:

  • MA/MSc in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Organisational Psychology (leading to professional practice or research).
  • MSW (Master of Social Work) for careers in social and community development, rehabilitation, and policy implementation.
  • MBA (Human Resource Management / Organisational Behaviour) for roles in corporate HR, learning and development, and workplace well-being.
  • Postgraduate Diplomas or Certificates in areas such as Guidance and Counselling, Behavioural Economics, Educational Psychology, or Neuropsychology.

After obtaining a Master’s degree (and relevant licensing, where required, such as through the Rehabilitation Council of India), graduates may work professionally as:

  • Counselling or Clinical Psychologists
  • Organisational Development Specialists / HR Managers
  • Behavioural Researchers or Policy Analysts
  • Community Mental Health Practitioners
  • Academic Faculty or Research Scholars

Additionally, students may engage in research fellowships, government and NGO projects, or international exchange programs, enhancing their global academic and professional profiles.

The programme also nurtures entrepreneurial and civic engagement skills, encouraging graduates to create social enterprises, wellness initiatives, or start-ups that promote mental health and human development.
