Applying for Visa
  • International students must get a Student or Research Visa before coming to India. To apply for the visa, use the Provisional Admission Letter sent by the University.
  • Apply for your visa at the Indian Embassy in your home country before you travel. The average processing time for a visa can be 3 to 8 weeks, depending on the country. Ask your local Indian Embassy for details.
  • Nepal and Bhutan nationals do not need a visa to enter India. However, Nepal citizens need a visa if entering India from China. Different visa rules exist for people with diplomatic or official passports. If you hold PIO or OCI status, you do not need a student visa.
