Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College (SBMJC) was established in 1990 under the Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Educational & Cultural Trust (SBMJECT). Over the years, this small beginning evolved into the JAIN Group of Institutions (JGI) - a dynamic network of educational institutions across India, offering value-driven education, fostering sporting excellence, community upliftment, and entrepreneurial development.
SBMJC colleges were grouped and later conferred the status of a Deemed-to-be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) through two notifications dated 19 December 2008 and 24 July 2009, based on UGC recommendations. Academic operations began in 2009. Today, JAIN comprises six faculties - Engineering & Technology, Sciences, Commerce, Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Creativity & Design. A robust digital ecosystem with technology-enabled learning, digital platforms, and paperless governance defines the University’s operational excellence.
JAIN is ranked among the top universities in India: top 5 private universities in Karnataka (KSURF 2019), #8 among private universities in India (India Today 2021), accredited with NAAC A++ (3.71/4), and holds the autonomy status from MHRD. It has been ranked #85 (NIRF 2020), #99 (NIRF 2021) and secured an All-India Rank of 91–95 in QS World University Rankings 2020.
